Thank You Mozart!

I work in retail, so I talk to a lot of customers every day.  Many I consider friends and many know I am a self taught quilter.  One customer in particular had been on my blog and read this post...and asked how things were going since I lost my quilting mojo.  Hmmmm, better thanks to Mozart!  This really confused her and she asked what does Mozart have to do with quilting?  Well, the answer to that is...  I love music and have different playlists on my iPod that I listen to at every stage of the quilt making process.  Classical is the playlist of choice for the actual quilting, most of which is Mozart!  She also asked me why I have a chihuahua (she does NOT like Chihuahuas)  Here is the answer

Remember these Taco Bell dogs?  The commercials were so cute and I vowed to someday have a chihuahua of my own...
Isn't she cute?  Don't let that fool you, she is opinionated, snotty, a spoiled brat and itchy with a B. But that is also what I love about her, although, I will say I will never have another chihuahua again!!  Very tough to train!  And, YES, I did make her a snow suit for the cold Wisconsin winters!

Under my Taco Bell dogs is one completed quilt which I will post tomorrow!

I lost my mojo...

I don't know what's up with me, I can't get into getting these two quilts done that I've been working on all month!  The tops are done and basted, ready to be quilted, and the binding for both is made and pressed, but all I want to do is walk away...
I love the thread I chose and I know how I want to do the quilting, BUT...I can't seem to get going.  Maybe I need to make something that stays at my house/for me/for hubby/for my kids/for my dogs.  I have made 50 to 60 quilts in the last 4 years and only a few have stayed with my family so maybe that needs to change.  Oh, well off to force myself to GET GOING!  Sometimes the first stitch is the hardest...

Valentine Random

My Hubby is so sweet!  Last night I was clipping lots and lots of coupons, and I told him my thumb was getting sore and I almost had a blister...Today he came home with this for my Valentine's gift!
Awesome, isn't it?  Now I can speed through clipping the coupons with no sore fingers!  And the blades are the same size as my rotary cutter!

This is what Mickey does when he sees my camera...

This is the only quilt I made and kept for myself...

I love this picture of my works in progress...except I hate the mess in the background!  I love the elephants too!  I will be sad when they are done and with their new family.  They will be with me for another week or so, then goodbye!
Someday I will clean my room, maybe after these two quilts are done.  The before picture will be scary!

Baby Elephants

Last week I started a quilt set for my Sis-in-Law's friend and new baby.  I have the baby's top done and all the blocks for mom's quilt are sewn and ready to put together.  I had a really hard time cutting into the elephant fabric, it's just so cute, and I did not have room for error since I only had so much fabric.

Originally both quilts were supposed to match but after I cut the blocks for the mom's quilt I only had one strip left that was just over 8 1/2 inches wide.  I had tried to find more fabric but no luck!  So I changed the baby's pattern and luckily my Sis liked it... And now that it's done I found more fabric!  I hate it when that happens!!!  But I love how this turned out...I also found out that the baby is a girl and she was born with a pulmonary embolism  but she is doing OK now.

My birthday is coming up this week so my Hubby and I are going out to dinner and of course birthday present shopping!  Now I just have to figure out what I want/need for the sewing room!!

And here's something I just had to add...If you've looked through my blog you'll see that I am one of those coupon shoppers, so I just had to post this from a recent shopping trip at Kmart...

Retail value before sales, points and coupons $43.28
Paid after sales, points and coupons $9.98
And so just like my fabric stash, the food and supply stash grows too!

Happy Quilting everyone!!!

Bad dog!

Last week my Boston Terrier, Mickey, started on a diet.  He has a bit of a weight problem in the winter months so he is on a diet from January to May to combat the chubbies.  On Friday I came home for lunch and guess what I found....

Mickey fell of the diet wagon!!  His bag of diet food is right by the garbage can!  Why couldn't he eat that?

He also left me a trail to follow when I cleaned up...it went into the living room, behind the rocking chair and then across the room and behind my elliptical!  I guess he gave me his opinion on exercise and diet!  I'm a good doggy mom, I went on a diet with him... that's my Special K cereal box!

He was very sorry but he had to spend the rest of the afternoon in his kennel!

Mickey has been forgiven 'cuz I can't stay mad when he's this cute!  Someday I'm going to make him a cape 'cuz he's a Super Dog!
