Denmark

This past school year friends of mine hosted an exchange student from Denmark.  Over the course of the year my daughter and Maria became good friends and as things usually go, somewhere along the way it was decided that Maria needed a quilt as a going away present!  And of course it was short notice...so among track meets, graduation, work, getting ready for a trip and going on that trip, I worked in a quilt for Maria.

I sewed half square triangles and my daughter did the design.  Here's the first try...
It took her about and hour and a half to finally decide what she wanted.  Finally after I showed her a design I had drawn up for another quilt, she was inspired and started this.
There were some changes made during quilt top assembly and I LOVE the finished quilt...
We made it in a knick of time-the night before Maria was flying home!

Vacation...

My parents took my family and my sister's family on vacation last week!  Can you guess where we went?

Disney World!

We drove there in two vehicles, so there was a lot of this in my car...

(my youngest daughter is sleeping under there!)

On the way to Disney, we made a stop at the beach.  I sent the kids in clothes and all!

I rode the Aerosmith Rockin Roller-coaster...another item crossed off on my bucket list!

Mickey and Mini called my husband and I to sing "Happy Anniversary" to us for our 19th wedding anniversary and they left kissing swans on our bed!

And on the way home we stopped in Springfield, IL to see my favorite sister in law...
She's a tour guide at the Lincoln Home (National Historic Site) Jenni is so lucky, she gets to do fun things and get paid to do them!  In 2012 she was a worked on a boat doing Puffin Tours in Maine!!  The kids and I will be going back down this summer to visit and take the full tour since we only had a short time
 to see her between groups.

I'll post more pics of the trip later this week when I have more time!

Ooops!

In the midst of all the craziness that has been going on in my life these last few weeks...it was brought to my attention that I did not share the quilts from my "UH-OH" post!  I did make the deadline of May 1!  I started all this on April 23 and managed to work around track meets, doctor appointments and a whole bunch of other commitments...
