Finally a finish!

Well, sort of a finish...the top is done, now I just have to decide on the backing and how I will quilt it.

I am absolutely in love with the fabrics and the fact that my husband helped me with this from start to finish!  He chose the pattern, helped with fabric choices, turned and pressed points, pressed all the blades, and then pressed some more and kept me company while I sewed.  I also worked on my Glamping blocks and I have them all sewed now I just have to press them all...and add sashing!

Last week I made my son a case for his tablet...

It turned out better than I thought it would, now I just need to get Velcro for the closure.

Cold, cold, go AWAY...

Come again...um... maybe next year?!  I live in Wisconsin and winters can be brutal!!  On average we have 18 days of below zero temps (Dec to March) as of Monday we were already at 18!  And there are more cold, below zero days next week.  The high for Monday is forecast to be -7 and the low is -18 (windchills of -30 to -40) and Tuesday is more of the same...the kids are hoping school will be closed again due to the extreme cold.  And since I am complaining about the weather, I am tired of snow too!!  Another 1 to 2 inches tomorrow and another 2 to 5 inches on Sunday added to the 6 inches we got earlier this week!  Spring can't get here soon enough for me!

When we first got the puppies, the kids and I were trying to figure out a middle name for him, but nothing sounded good with his first name, Mateo.  So I gave him a new first name...Phineas Mateo!   Next week is going to be rough for him and his sister, they are getting spayed and neutered and the last of their shots.  And speaking of Bella, this is where I find her pretty often...

Thursday!

It has been a while since my last post...and very busy around here!  The last post was about my kitchen make over, here is some of the progress!

One day soon it will all be done...

The puppies have kept me very busy, they are getting big and into everything!

They are almost the size of my Boston Terrier!

I made a hat for my nephew...

The Trickster is trying it on to see if I needed to add more rows...

My oldest daughter turned 16 and is now a cheerleader!

And hopefully, I can get a Christmas quilt made before Christmas.  I've only had the fabric for the last five years!

Actually, I bought the black dots last week, but the rest is about five years old!

And the best news of all...Mary Ann and Bob (my family) finally got non-profit status to help the people on the Wanblee Reservation in South Dakota!  You can also read about them here Families Working Together   Two weeks ago my SIL and I filled the whole back of my Escape with clothes, shoes and winter coats to send out on the next trip!

Kitchen Make Over Part One

This is where I started...

I have hated my kitchen from day one!  The house was built in the 70's so this was the quick update I originally did about 8 years ago...it was a an improvement, but I still hated it!  I took the week off from work and have been busy!

First, I had to remove the wallpaper border (what was I thinking when I put that up?) and then remove this wallpaper from behind the fridge...Bicentennial from 1976, the year I was born!

I made a huge mess...but this is semi cleaned up!

It seams like I have been painting for days and days, I chose Magnetic Force (a deep wine/burgundy color) for my backslpash  and soffit and I am going to end up doing 5 coats by the time I'm done!  What was I thinking?!  I hate painting!  The other walls are called Family Crest which is a beautiful light green.  Now my next dilemma is whether or not to paint the cabinets.  I have a cream color chosen but I am not 100% sure I should paint them and we are possibly going to sell the house, so I'm thinking of maybe stripping them.

And finally this is my project for the day...

Clear the hubby's desk, move it out of the way or take it apart, remove the border and paint the wall.

And paint yet another coat of Magnetic Force...

And keep these two out of trouble!  Don't let them fool you, they are not sweet innocent puppies!  They are tornadoes with legs!

We brought them home last Sunday and have been basking in puppy cuteness all week, however there have been sleepless nights, endless puppy laundry and lots of this...

And of course, puppy proofing the kitchen where they will live for the next few weeks during training.  Now my daughter and I are trying to figure out a middle name for Mateo, any suggestions?
